Hiring Interns for the Fall Semester

Participating in a hands-on internship at the Concordia Greenhouse is a great way to get involved with the project and learn useful skills. Check out the details below for each position!

Media Intern (one position)

The Concordia Greenhouse is looking for an undergraduate student intern in the minor for Communications Coms394 or Sustainability Loyc 420 with us this Fall (see http://www.concordia.ca/artsci/loyola-college-diversity-sustainability/programs/courses.html for more information on the course). 
The internship requires 120 hours to be completed between September 8th – December 7th 2015
Tasks include: Creation of weekly newsletter, graphic design: signs, posters, brochures, outreach such as tabling at information kiosks on and off campus, and assistance with social events.

Four Seasons Growing Internships (three positions)

The Greenhouse is looking for undergrad students interested in taking the Internship in Sustainability credit LOYC 420 with us this Fall (see http://www.concordia.ca/artsci/loyola-college-diversity-sustainability/programs/courses.html for more information on the course). This position would assist with food production in the greenhouse over the Fall months. The internship requires 120 hours to be completed between September 8th – December 7th 2015 and includes assistance with planting, harvesting, pest control, and fertilizing (using organic growing practices), as well as with packaging and deliveries of produce. LOYC 420: Internship in Sustainability

Farmers Market Intern (one position)

The Greenhouse is looking for an undergrad student interested in taking the Internship in Sustainability credit LOYC 420 with us this Fall (see http://www.concordia.ca/artsci/loyola-college-diversity-sustainability/programs/courses.html for more information on the course).  This position would be primarily managing the farmers market stall during the Fall months. The internship requires 120 hours to be completed between September 8th – December 7th 2015, and includes managing the market stall, as well as, lending a hand in the plant production process. Experience in retail, local food marketing and working with plants an asset. Atrium Garden Intern (one position)

From September through the end of November 2015 (with possibility of extension), this new Atrium Garden Internship is a 3-hour per week commitment where the participant will learn basic skills on how to take care of plants in the Atrium Garden,  assist with the production of herbal teas offered for free to Atrium users, and assist the project coordinator in making the Atrium a calming green space on the downtown campus.
Some of the skills learned will be pest control, harvesting & drying teas , fertilization, and maintenance of fruiting & decorative plants. We are offering an experience in a campus-based non-profit greenhouse with an exceptional reputation.
This is a non-credit internship, however the participant will receive valuable work experience and a very detailed professional evaluation and reference, as well as the opportunity to learn from many other projects currently taking place at the Concordia Greenhouse.
  Although no experience is required- just a strong desire to learn about and work with plants, reliability, and a good work ethic – individuals with some experience in maintaining plants may be prioritized for an interview.
