Internship Tasks:

1. Content Organization & Tagging
  • Review existing blog posts: Go through the entire archive of blog posts (13 years’ worth) to get familiar with the content.
  • Assign tags, categories, and labels to blog posts: Develop a list of relevant tags (e.g., “plant care,” “greenhouse design,” “sustainability,” etc.) and assign them to individual posts to improve searchability and organization.
    • Categorize by year or topic: Organize posts by publication date or by thematic relevance for easier access and browsing.
  • Ensure links are functional: Check all internal and external links within blog posts to ensure they still work and update any broken links.
2. Content Editing & Updating
  • Review older blog posts: Check older content for relevance, accuracy, and clarity. Remove or condense “Newsletter” updates that are repetitive.
  • Format content for the new website: Adjust any blog posts to fit the new website’s format, including image resizing, reorganization of paragraphs, and adjusting headings.
3. SEO Optimization
  • Perform keyword research: Identify high-ranking, relevant keywords for your industry (e.g., “greenhouse tips,” “plant care,” etc.).
  • Update SEO for existing posts: Integrate relevant keywords into titles, headers, and meta descriptions of old blog posts.
  • Optimize images and media: Ensure all images are tagged with appropriate alt text and titles to improve accessibility and search engine optimization.
4. Documentation & Reporting
  • Create a content management guide: Develop a guide for internal use that outlines the tagging, categorization, and archiving practices followed.
  • Prepare Archival Document: Track the content organization and develop a “Historical” document that outlines major events.
5. Collaboration & Communication
  • Participate in team meetings: Attend regular check-ins to discuss the status of the project, challenges, and feedback from Communications & Advisor.

If you’re interested and get the position, you could earn 3 credits towards your degree and Sustainability program under LOYC 420 or 421.
