The Greenhouse relies on external funding to sustain and expand its programming in sustainability, diversity, and experiential learning. The Grants Intern will play a key role in strengthening this foundation by researching the wide range of grant opportunities available to support such initiatives. They will build and organize a comprehensive database of relevant grants, evaluate which opportunities best align with the Greenhouse’s ongoing and emerging projects, and collaborate with project coordinators to prepare or submit proposals.
This position offers the student meaningful hands-on experience in non-profit funding strategies, project development, and professional writing—skills that are highly transferable to careers in research, community organizations, and policy work. By directly engaging with the grant process, the intern will both contribute to the long-term sustainability of the Greenhouse and enhance their own university education by bridging theory with practice. General grants secured through this work will directly support current programming on the 7th floor and help fund future internship opportunities, further extending experiential learning to more students.
Larger grants, if secured or even initiated during the internship, have the potential to support the Greenhouse’s long-term vision of returning to the 13th floor of Concordia, ensuring that this vital student space can once again serve as a hub for community building, sustainability education, and collaborative research.
