The Greenhouse maintains a historical archive of zines that reflect its legacy of community engagement, sustainability initiatives, and student-led projects. However, many of these publications are now outdated and inaccessible to current students and community members. The Illustration Intern will take on the important task of revitalizing this archive by carefully editing and updating older issues for accuracy, working alongside staff with subject-matter expertise to ensure credibility and relevance. They will also contribute original illustrations and creative layouts, ensuring that the renewed zines are visually compelling and grounded in authentic student expression (without reliance on AI or uncredited digital sources).
This internship directly contributes to the preservation and accessibility of the Greenhouse’s history while cultivating transferable skills in publishing, research, collaboration, and visual communication. By engaging with archival materials and producing updated resources, the intern will support the Greenhouse in making its knowledge and stories more available to students, researchers, and the wider university community. At the same time, the student gains hands-on experience that complements their academic studies, offering an applied learning opportunity that bridges creativity, sustainability, and knowledge sharing.
If time allows the intern will also be encouraged to create a small passion-project zine, fostering their own initiative and curiosity.
