What is an Annual General Meeting in the context of Fee Levy Groups?
Annual General Meetings are more than just an assembly, it is a forum for community members to come together under collective ideas to help support and guide fee levies towards their student driven goals. As a registered non-profit organization, Annual General Meetings also serve the bureaucratic purpose of formally presenting the organization’s activities over the previous fiscal year, the budget, and to elect a new board of directors.
How are AGMs conducted?
An Annual General Meeting for a student fee levy organization is a yearly gathering where fee-paying students and our community at large can review financial statements, hear activity reports, and vote on motions or elections. The meeting’s outcomes, such as levy approvals, elections, and financial disclosures, are recorded in minutes and shared with community members for accountability and transparency.
Who can participate in an AGM?
All students and community members are typically eligible to attend, speak, and vote at the AGM.
Who is a Community Member?
Concordia Greenhouse Community Members are: Volunteers, apprentices and interns; Current Collective members and staff; Current Board members; Current Concordia Undergraduate Students who have paid fee levy fees towards the Concordia Greenhouse and have not requested a refund; Service users who request membership and are approved by the Board of Directors.
Members have the right to vote and participate in decision-making at the Concordia Greenhouse’s General Assemblies.
