CHAP Food Forest & Engagement Assistant

***Must be a current Concordia Undergraduate Student to apply***
 

***$22/hr at 10 hrs/week for 17 weeks (May 6 – August 31, 2024)***

 Along with the City Herbal Apprenticeship Program (CHAP) Coordinator and staff members of the Concordia Greenhouse, the Food Forest & Engagement Assistant will aid our team in restoring the food forest area located on Concordia’s Loyola Campus. Together, the Assistant and our team will attend consultation sessions which will help us better understand the ins-and-outs of maintaining a healthy food forest.

The Assistant will also be responsible for recruiting and delegating our weekly volunteers who will primarily be focused on tending to the food forest. These tasks may include pruning, adding compost & fertilizers, preparing beds, maintenance of paths, planting seedlings, etc. Therefore a foundational knowledge of permaculture or gardening and a passion to learn more is an asset. Additionally, an interest in working within non-hierarchical environments & experience in social media outreach are also assets.

Engagement and promotion will be a large and vital aspect of this position. The Assistant will promote our weekly volunteer sessions, and the overall initiative of the Loyola Food Forest Restoration Project at Concordia as well as on our social media platforms.
