Dear friends of City Farm School,

As many of you may know, City Farm School ceased offering the well-loved Market Gardener Apprenticeship in 2022. Because of this, we’ve decided to change our project’s name to the City Herbal Apprenticeship Program (CHAP) to better reflect our current offerings and structure as a whole. CHAP strives to carry on CFS’s legacy of approaching environmental and herbal education as a collective and interactive experience, and aims to continue developing partnerships in urban agriculture while providing financially accessible education.

We are now accepting applications for our 2023
Herbal Apprenticeship Program!

Are you interested in deepening your understanding of herbal medicine and learning how to grow your own medicinal plants? Our Herbal Apprenticeship Program is your opportunity to do so!

Over the course of four months, from June until October, apprentices will gain hands-on experience tending to our perennial herb garden located on Concordia’s Loyola campus, in addition to learning how to produce a variety of herbal medicines including tea blends, tinctures, glycerites, salves, and infused oils. Apprentices will also attend classes led by experienced herbalists on topics such as botany & plant identification, herbalism & physiology, seed saving, and more.

The City Herbal Apprenticeship Program is for anyone who wants to learn how to grow, identify, harvest, use, and apply herbs in a hands-on, collective setting. We aim to create a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and community growth. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, apprentices will receive a certificate that recognizes their acquired skills and knowledge as herbal apprentices.

If you are passionate about plants and want to deepen your knowledge of medicinal herbs, this program is for you!

Registration for our 2023 apprenticeship is now open, and the deadline to apply is Wednesday May 24th. We hope you’ll join us!
