Volunteer Opportunity: Greenhouse Outreach & Events Volunteer Team

Are you looking to make an impact? Interested in sustainability?

We are seeking 5–6 dedicated undergrads to join our Outreach & Events volunteer team for the autumn semester. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community engagement, public relations, and event management while supporting a vital sustainability initiative.

The Role As an Outreach Volunteer, you will work alongside fellow student volunteers, board members, and our Outreach & Communications Coordinator. Your primary responsibilities will include engaging with the public, assisting with event logistics, and helping to promote the greenhouse’s mission within the community.

Commitment & Logistics

  • Duration: 4–8 months
  • Time Commitment: 3–10 hours per month
  • Schedule: Available on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
  • Shift Length: Individual shifts are 2–3 hours long.
  • Recognition: All hours are logged and eligible for co-curricular recognition at the end of the academic year.

Requirements

  • Must be available to attend two mandatory introduction workshops:
    1. July 28th, 1pm – 3pm Info Session: An overview of the greenhouse’s history and mission.
    2. August 4th, 1pm – 30mHands-On Workshop: A practical session to understand the specific tasks and responsibilities involved in greenhouse operations.
  • A genuine interest in sustainability and community-focused work.
  • Enthusiasm for engaging with the public and working in a team environment.
