About The Concordia Greenhouse Project
The Concordia Greenhouse Project’s mission was to provide a welcoming, year-round green space that fostered community and offered hands-on learning opportunities. Formerly located in the rooftop greenhouse of the Hall Building, the organization continued its work on the 7th floor after the original space closed for decontamination and mechanical renovations. As a collectively run, consensus-based non-profit, the Greenhouse hosted workshops, projects, and events focused on food issues, urban agriculture, sustainable horticulture, and alternatives to mainstream consumerism.
Even without access to the 13th-floor greenhouse structure, the Greenhouse Project remained committed to supporting student-led urban agriculture and sustainability initiatives through internships, volunteer opportunities, project mentorship, and collaborative partnerships. After more than a year in the 7th-floor space, the organization demonstrated that most of its mandate could still be met with creative planning and new approaches.
