Workshop: Composting

We invite Compost Montréal, one of Montreal`s premier large-scale composting organization to offer an informative composting workshop within the Concordia greenhouse. 

2015 has been proclaimed the International year of Soils by the United Nations and this workshop will leave you with the knowledge to help the soils by composting at home, whether it be in your yard or with worms. 

You will get to know what is going on when you compost and why it is so important. 

Compost Montréal’s staff will share with you their experience of composting in a backyard and inside an apartment, no balcony needed! 

$5-$10 sliding scale

Workshop: DIY Planters Self Watering & Hanging Macrame

Join us for a creative night of creating your own unique and functional planters for your apartment or to give as a handmade gift!

You can choose between either project, or do one of each during the workshop. We will split into two group afters discussing a variety of DIY planter projects.

PROJECT ONE:

Learn how to cut glass bottles without a glass cutter! We will be creating glass bottle self-watering planters (as depicted above.)

PROJECT TWO:

Create custom macrame string planters to maximize your vertical growing space and fill your window up with cute plants! 

$5 per project

We will have plants for sale for your planters, $3 each!

Workshop: House Plant Propagation

Did you know that wee produce all of our own house plants here at the Concordia Greenhouse?

Come learn the basics of house plant propagation – producing more plants from your current ones! 

We’ll talk about various plant production methods such as stem cuttings, planting offsets, root division and many others; as well as a small discussion on equipment that will make propagation easier such as lighting and heating. 

You’ll even get to pot your own plant and bring it home! 

Space is limited to sign up early  – 15 spaces.
